Silenced
Today, work is quiet.
Not because it is done.
Not because it is calm.
Not because nothing is in flight.
It is quiet because I chose to silence it.
There are projects moving. Conversations unfolding. Decisions waiting.
They can wait.
I took the day off.
Not to rest.
To stretch.
Today I’m streaming with Rale.
It will be long. It will test my stamina. It will stretch my strengths and expose the soft spots that formed while I was away. Streaming is like a muscle. When you step back, you feel it the first time you push again. The timing. The transitions. The energy management. The foundations that used to feel automatic.
Good.
Let them show.
Strength is not pretending weakness isn’t there. It is pressing into it anyway.
While I’m live, my wife will have the kids home.
The girls high school basketball team is playing for the state title today. The whole school shuts down to go support them.
I love small towns.
I love that a town will pause for something that matters.
I love that today, I get to pause for something that matters too.
Not everything deserves your attention at the same time.
Some things deserve your presence instead.
There are seasons for sprinting.
There are seasons for building.
Today is for streaming.
This weekend is for my family.
And that is how it should be.
This is where I’m ending the week.
Still a dad. Still figuring it out.
Choosing presence on purpose, at least for today.
Much love. Stay safe. Wash your damn hands.
I’ll see you next time.
