Somehow, It's July

Over the weekend, my mom came down, and I was able to get her computer back up and running.

One less thing on her list.

A good way to start the weekend.

The kids have started transitioning into what the rest of their summer is going to look like.

The expectations aren't complicated.

Make your bed.

Clean your room.

Get dressed.

Brush your teeth.

Eat breakfast.

Do something that helps around the house.

Then...

Phones.

Computers.

Freedom.

Simple.

Predictable.

Fair.

We also decided to stay home from church this weekend.

We still watched the service, just from home.

Sometimes that's the better decision.

Instead of spending the morning on the road, we spent it cleaning the office.

Things found homes.

Things got thrown away.

Things that had quietly piled up over months finally disappeared.

By the end of the day, the room—and honestly, my mind—felt a little lighter.

Somewhere in the middle of all of that...

One set of college classes ended.

Another began.

These will carry me through the rest of the summer.

I'm still waiting on final grades from the last term.

There's still a very outside chance my 4.0 survives another round.

I even sent my professor an email asking if there was anything else I could do.

No reply yet.

We'll see.

Then it hit me.

Tomorrow is my wife's birthday.

I also owe her a trip to the beach.

That needs to happen.

And somehow...

This weekend is already the Fourth of July.

The parade downtown.

Fireworks.

Family.

July.

Time just refuses to slow down.

Work is going to be full this week.

Leadership development conversations with members of my team.

Three different people.

Three different situations.

Three different voices I'll need to bring to the table.

That's part of leadership.

The conversation has to meet the person, not the other way around.

Thankfully, I stocked up on coffee over the weekend.

I'm going to need it.

Life rarely changes all at once.

It changes one small transition at a time.

A clean room.

A new routine.

Another birthday.

A new semester.

Another month on the calendar.

Most of the time, we don't notice life changing while it's happening.

We only realize it when we stop long enough to look around and wonder...

How in the world did it become July already?

Much love.

Stay safe.

Wash your damn hands.

See you Wednesday.
