The Studio
A little gaming. A lot of conversation. And a purpose bigger than either.
Streaming has always been about more than playing games for me.
It's about bringing people together. Sharing a few laughs, telling stories, making questionable decisions in games, and occasionally discovering that the people on the other side of the screen have become some of the most important people in your life.
Some of my best friends are people I met through streaming.
What started with games grew into a community. We talk about parenting, work, family, and whatever life has decided to throw at us
this week. We share stories, offer advice, give each other a hard time, and find opportunities to hang out whenever we can.
These days, most of us are on hiatus from streaming for one reason or another. Life has a remarkable way of rearranging priorities.
But the friendships haven't gone anywhere.
We're still around. Still talking. Still finding time to play games together. Still showing up for one another.
And that's probably the part of streaming I've come to appreciate most.
Playing for a Purpose
Gaming has always been about more than what happens on the screen.
Over the years, streaming gave me an opportunity to turn something I enjoyed into something that could help others. Through charity events, fundraising efforts, and a community willing to show up for a good cause, we found ways to make a little difference while having a lot of fun.
Extra Life has been an important part of that journey, supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and the work they do for children and families.
I'm not actively streaming or running fundraising campaigns right now, but that doesn't mean the purpose behind them has disappeared.
When The Studio comes back to life, I hope that charitable giving will continue to be part of what we build together.
Because sometimes the best thing to come out of a game has nothing to do with winning.
The Studio Is Quiet. The Community Isn't.
Right now, streaming has taken a back seat to family, writing, school, and the other things that need my attention.
And that's okay.
When the time is right, I'll return to streaming. There will be games, laughter, questionable decisions, and hopefully more opportunities to support causes that matter.
In the meantime, the community continues through Discord, conversations, and the occasional gaming session when life allows.
And there's always room for another voice.
If you're looking for people to talk with, share a story, play a game, or simply spend a little time among friends, consider this an invitation.
We're not always online. Sometimes life gets busy, and sometimes the conversations pick up right where they left off.
You don't have to be a streamer. You don't have to be a gamer. You don't even have to have anything particularly interesting to say.
Just come as you are.
Pull up a chair. Join us on Discord.
And if you're looking for more of my stories in the meantime, the Journal is always open.
The stream might be offline, but the friendships never were.
